The Stellan Tee

Hello there internet… it certainly has been a while.

If you follow me on Instagram then you may have noticed that I have been threatening to release a free T-shirt pattern on numerous occasions over the past year and a bit. I didn’t anticipate it taking quite so long to actually happen but it seems that, despite my best intentions to release it last year, 2018 had other plans.

The first version of this pattern came about a few years ago as a solution to my struggles in styling my ever growing collection of high-waisted pants and shorts.  An avid follower of Caves Collect on Instagram, I noticed the Jim T  and that its cut seemed the perfect solution to my clothing conundrum.

Although boxy, it was still slim (and cropped) enough to tuck into ones pants without creating a lot of bulk.  I also loved the high neckline and longish sleeve and did my best to emulate this silhouette.

After innumerable disappearances down Pinterest rabbit holes (some of this inspiration of which is below) and a little tweaking of the fit over the past year, what has evolved over time is to me the perfect-fit t-shirt for my current wardrobe. I like to size down one size if I intend wearing the t-shirt with super high pants like the Perspehones or the Landers, or up a size for a more relaxed look to go with my Calyer pants .

So, without any further ado. I finally present to you The Stellan Tee. Its just a simple t-shirt, nothing fancy, but hopefully as useful to you as it has been to me. I could ramble on and on about how grateful I am for all the love that has been shown to me over the past 2 years, and how much it means to me (a lot more than I could ever articulate!!) but instead I give you this pattern as a small token of my appreciation.

*I had hoped to take some photos to accompany this pattern release, but I have found it really difficult to find the time to do so and I don’t want to delay it any longer. I hope to update with photos soon, but in the meantime you can search #thestellantee hashtag to get a general idea of the fit.

Thanks so much for this! Can’t wait to try it as it looks right up my street style-wise. Incidentally, I like giving a donation to charity whenever I download a free pattern from an indi designer, and I wondered if there was a charity that is close to your heart? Thanks again for another cool pattern.

That is so sweet and kind of you! Honestly there are so many charities in South Africa it would be hard to chose one. The Nelson Mandela children’s fund is a good place to start. Thank you for the lovely sentiment, such a good idea 😊

    i have a question,
i live in the us and i printed out the print at home version but alot of the pattern pieces are not matching up.
i actually reprint a few to see if i didn’t have it on actual size and it did the same thing.
you line up one side and the other would be completely off.

Hi Aaliyah. What program are you printing from? Nobody else has experienced this problem to my knowledge, I’m not sure what it can be if you are printing from Acrobat..?

I’m excited to get this pattern printed and started! I’m having trouble pulling up the layers on the free adobe acrobat application using a Mac. Has anyone else have this issue? Does anyone have a suggestion?
