Get up, Get Down

June 30, 2016July 27, 20162 Comments

When I made this jumpsuit in April I did not have a great deal of free time. Not that I have much now, but at that point the kids were not yet at morning playschool, so my sewing projects would end up being frustratingly long-winded (much like my blog posts). I had wanted a casual … Continue reading Get up, Get Down

My favourite #persephonepants to date. I battled for ages to find suitable weight canvas for this pattern until it occurred to me to look at upholstery fabric stores. Since I’ve made them in bottom weight fabric and I’ve tweaked the fit ever so slightly to accommodate for my long torso they are literally the best pants ever. Worn here with a #thestellantee which I basically designed just to wear with Persephone pants 😂 Also are you guys sick of me yet? Trying so hard to put myself more out there again but I really struggle with all these selfies.

I dont usually post mirror selfies. Im not sure why that is exactly as they're no less weird than the usual decapitated photos that do intermittently share over here. But then I have been doing lots of things that I don't usually do of late, like staying up past 10pm, drinking too much with my friends (so many have suddenly returned to this country), speaking about things other than parenting, and going way out of my comfort zone to meet up with strangers like @halfmoonatelier . I guess Im not sure if I am feeling not like myself, or more like myself than I have in many years, but I'm kind of enjoying the change in season. In other news I sewed up this #jeanpaulreadytosew (mostly on Saturday, when my kids played together happily and let me sew and listen to music for what must have been at least 2 consecutive hours!!!) I am completely obsessed with this pattern which I didnt modify at all except for lengthening the legs it by 3cm and narrowing them ever so slightly because of my skinny ankles.
Finally a post in my new place. Instagram absence has made me so uncomfortable posting pictures again but I promised myself that this month, now that I’m semi-settled after the move, I must get back into things so here’s a recent make, a self drafted shirt in this super 90’s viscose from @unionragfabric paired with kinda old @marillawalker #robertscollectiondungarees in mystery denim from my stash. I’m toying with the idea of using photographs in my instructions again, instead of doing all those vector illustrations that I don’t really have time for. I reckon that would probably at least double my annual pattern output, although I know that illustrated instructions are generally a community preference... I’m undecided (as per usual). I feel like using a graphic designer is an option, but that they would have to have some sewing/ garment construction knowledge, and I’ve yet to find anyone like that. Unless maybe you’re someone like that? Send me a DM if maybe you would be interested.
Guys I’m terrible, I totally missed the post by @minervadotcom on Tuesday featuring these #yantaoveralls made in their gorgeous Lady McElroy drill! Super stoked with how these turned out, there will be many more Yanta Overalls in my future!
Equal parts surreal and awesome meeting Meghann of @halfmoonatelier today, shes even more amazing in real life than I imagined she would be. Just the best ❤️🌈🙌🏼
#theastairtee is now available in my Etsy store. It’s just a humble t-shirt but is a pattern that I drafted approximately 8 years ago, versions of which I have worn consistently up until now. This considered, I figured it has been a pretty useful addition to my wardrobe, and hopefully some of you will feel the same way. I really hoped to release a lot more patterns this year, but life happened and it seems like 2019 will only end up be the year of t-shirts, something that I am gradually making my peace with. Life is pretty crazy at the moment and, amongst a whole bunch of other personal stuff, I’m moving home in September so I think I need to take a little hiatus from making patterns until next year. This really bums me out, but on a positive note, I hope that this means that I will have a little more time for recreational sewing and engaging with the community. Oh yeah, also I see I hit 15k followers at some point this weekend (what?!?!?) so as a little thank you all my patterns are 15% off until the end of the month. Thanks so much for all the support guys, I literally have no words ❤️ . . . #sewists #sewcialists #sewistsofinstagram #sewingbasics #sewingwithknits #handmadewardrobe #memadeeveryday #indiepatterns
